FAQs

Why do we get wrinkles and when do they start?

As we age, the skin loses its collagen and elastin fibres and gets thinner. The secretion of oil from the sebaceous glands decreases and the skin tend to become drier. The fat in the subcutaneous layer also begins to gradually reduce. All these changes cause the skin to sag leading to the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. There is no fixed age for appearance of wrinkles. Both heredity and lifestyle play an important role in the development of wrinkles.
